Jamel Wilcox, 19, Oakland, who was already charged with attempted murder and shooting at an occupied motor vehicle, surrendered in Oakland Monday afternoon. He was then taken to the Berkeley Jail where he remained Tuesday being held without bail.

Three other suspects in the shooting, which happened in the 1600 block of 62nd Street, were previously arrested and charged in the shoot-out, which saw no one injured but at least one vehicle was struck by gunfire.

Those previously charged were Justin Scott Lofton, 22, of Oakland; Isabella Lai Saturn, 21, of Oakland; and Deandre Bess, 22, of Oakland. Lofton and Saturn have been charged with attempted murder and Bess with accessory after the fact to attempted murder. They also are being held without bail and are due in court Friday to enter pleas.

Wilcox’s first court appearance date was not available.

Police said  Wilcox and Bess were one faction in the shoot-out and Lofton and Saturn the other.

Police have not released a motive, but law enforcement sources familiar with the suspects said it was probably gang-related.
