OAKLAND — A 38-year-old man died Thursday night after the car he was driving collided with a tree in West Oakland, police said Friday.
The man’s name has not been released but police said he was an Oakland resident.
The deadly crash happened about 10:36 p.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of Market Street.
Police said the man was alone in a 2008 silver Honda Accord that was going going southbound on Market when it apparently lost control after hitting the center median and slammed head-on into a tree. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police continue to investigate the crash and said it is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were a factor in what happened.
