MARTINEZ — Quick action by employees during a robbery at a Chase Bank branch Thursday led to the arrest of the suspect, police said Friday.
The suspect, Herman Lee Alexander, 53, of Concord, was arrested leaving the bank.
Police said about 12:20 p.m. Thursday a man handed a note demanding money to a teller at the bank, 4021 Alhambra Ave.
While that was happening, another bank employee was able to call police to report a robbery in progress; an almost simultaneous “hold up” alarm was also received by police from the bank.
Police arrived on scene within a few minutes and arrested Alexander. The money taken and the note were recovered at the bank, police said.
Alexander was booked at the Martinez Detention Center on suspicion of robbery and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
