Man shot in East Oakland by truck occupant

OAKLAND — A 36-year-old man was shot Thursday afternoon in East Oakland after getting into an argument with an occupant of a pickup truck, authorities said Friday.

The man was in stable condition Friday at a hospital.

The shooting happened about 4:38 p.m. Thursday in the 2300 block of 73rd Avenue.

Police said the man was walking on the sidewalk when a truck in a traffic lane slowed down. An occupant of the truck and the man began exchanging words before the man was shot.

The truck left before police arrived and the victim was taken to a hospital.

Detailed descriptions of the shooter and truck were not immediately released.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooter. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
