OAKLAND — A man was wounded Sunday afternoon in an apparent exchange of gunfire between the occupants of two vehicles, authorities said Sunday.

The adult male struck and taken by other people to an area hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

At 3:12 p.m., officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 2300 block of 26th Avenue and learned of reports of a shoot-out between occupants of two cars, finding a parked car and a house were apparently struck by bullets. No other injuries were reported.

Neighborhood residents, including one man who said he was barbecuing at home a short distance away, said they heard at least five gunshots.

“Once we heard the shots we threw ourselves on the ground,” the man said. “When we thought we heard the cars go away, that’s when we got up again.”

No other information was immediately available Sunday afternoon, and officers had no motive or suspects in custody.

For information leading to the arrest of a suspect, police are offering up to $5,000 in this shooting. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers of Oakland at 510-777-8572.
