OAKLAND — Two men were shot to death in East Oakland Tuesday night, police said Wednesday.

They were identified as Jason Fields 41, who lived in the area where the shooting happened, and Germaine Brown, 45, of Richmond. Police said they were friends.

Police responding to a Shot Spotter alert found the wounded men at 9:17 p.m. Tuesday in the 1800 block of East 22nd Street, a primarily residential area. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

No motive has been released yet and no arrests have been made.

The killings are the 62nd and 63rd homicides in Oakland this year.  Last year at this time there were 61 homicides.

In an unrelated shooting, a 25-year-old man was wounded by gunfire about 4:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 8900 block of D Street. He was in stable condition at a hospital.

He was shot after apparently getting into an argument with another man who is now being sought by police, authorities said.  A parked car was hit by gunfire, but no one else was reported injured.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $20,000 in reward money in the double killing and up to $5,000 in reward money in the D Street shooting for information leading to the arrests of the suspects.  Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3821 or 510-238-3426 or 510-238-7950 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
