OAKLAND — A woman died early Sunday, and police were looking for the driver who fled after hitting her with a vehicle.

According to police, a dark four-door sedan hit the woman as she was crossing the street in the 400 block of 14th Street in the downtown area. The car never stopped after the collision, police said, and there was no description of the driver.

An ambulance took the woman to Highland Hospital, where she died, police said. The woman appears to be of Asian descent and in her 60s, police said. Authorities did not identify her immediately, pending notification of her relatives.
