OAKLAND — An 18-year-old woman was taken to a hospital and was expected to be OK after being shot in East Oakland on Sunday night, police said.
The woman told police she was walking in a parking lot when she heard something that sounded like gunfire and realized she was wounded. The shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. in the 6900 block of Bancroft Avenue, police said.
She contacted other people in the area, and one of them drove her to a hospital, police said.
Police have not determined whether the woman was the intended target, or whether she was hit by a stray bullet. Police have not made any arrests, and they said they have not determined a motive.
