Robbery victim shot in Oakland’s Uptown area

OAKLAND — A 30-year-old man was shot and robbed early Sunday in the Uptown area, authorities said.

He was in stable condition at a hospital.

The man was near the intersection of Telegraph Avenue and 24th Street about 2:42 a.m. Sunday when a man got out of a car, confronted him and demanded his property, authorities said.

When the man did not immediately comply, he was shot and his iPhone and other items taken from him by the suspect who fled in the car, authorities said.

The suspect was described as a black man in his early 20s and about 5 feet 9. He was wearing a black beanie and a red sweater.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.  Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3326 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
