OAKLAND — A 37-year-old man shot multiple times early Wednesday in East Oakland died later from his wounds, authorities said Thursday
His name has not been released.
The shooting happened about 12:09 a.m. Wednesday in the 1400 block of 85th Avenue near International Boulevard. The man died later in the morning at a hospital.
Police responding to a Shot Spotter alert found the man outside with multiple gunshot wounds to different parts of his body.
Police are trying to determine if the man was shot by someone in a passing vehicle or by someone who approached him on the street. Numerous shell casings were found at the scene.
No motive has been determined yet and no arrests have been made.
The killing is the third homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time police had investigated 11 homicides.
