Man in critical condition after Oakland hit-and-run

OAKLAND — A man was in critical condition Wednesday after being struck by a vehicle that kept going in the Chinatown district, authorities said.

The man, believed to be in his 50s, was found unconscious in the roadway at Seventh and Webster streets about 5:57 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

The man received medical attention on the scene from paramedics before being taken to a hospital.

Police were working to get a description of the vehicle and the driver.

The intersection where the collision happened was shut down for several hours while police investigated.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the driver.  Anyone with information may call police at 510-777-8570 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
