OAKLAND — A resident of an East Oakland home was shot Tuesday morning by a burglar, police said.
The victim, a man in his 20s, was in stable condition and the suspect is being sought.
The shooting happened about 12:40 a.m. Tuesday at a home in the 1900 block of Crosby Avenue, where the man and other family members were asleep.
Police did not say how the burglar entered the home, but his movements apparently caused the resident to wake up and confront the intruder.
The burglar shot the resident once before fleeing without taking anything. No one else was hurt.
A detailed description of the burglar was not released.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the suspect. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3326 or 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
