EMERYVILLE — A 28-year-old man has been charged with felony possession of child pornography after police said they found more than 1,200 such images on a computer at his home, according to authorities and court records.
The suspect, Ricardo Corona, who was formally charged Monday, is free on bail pending a court hearing Aug. 19, when he is expected to enter a plea and tell the court who is representing him.
According to court documents, Corona admitted to police he had downloaded the images.
The investigation began July 2 when police received a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force that child pornography had been downloaded from an IP address tied to a home in the 4300 block of Adeline Street where Corona was living.
After additional investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant for the home and served it July 25, seizing several electronic devices, police and arresting Corona. A search of a laptop computer police said belongs to Corona yielded more than 1,200 images of child pornography, police said.
