BERKELEY — A woman remained hospitalized Thursday after suffering serious injuries Wednesday night when she was hit by an SUV in South Berkeley, authorities said.
Police did not name the woman but said she was in her 70s.
Police said the woman was injured about 9:05 p.m. Wednesday when she was hit by an SUV, reported to be a Chevy Yukon, at the intersection of Sacramento and Fairview streets.
Police said the woman was a pedestrian, but did not say if she was in a crosswalk when she was hit.
Authorities said the woman was breathing but unresponsive before she was transported to a hospital.
The driver of the SUV, a 39-year-old Berkeley man, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Streets in the area were shut down for more than an hour while police investigated.
