SAN LEANDRO — A man killed Monday morning in a wreck on southbound Interstate 880 near Davis Street was identified by the coroner’s office as Reuben Castro, 32, of Castro Valley.
The California Highway Patrol said he was alone in a vehicle that crashed at 7:11 a.m. Monday into a wall along the right shoulder of the freeway, south of Davis Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said officers are investigating whether Castro had some kind of medical emergency that caused him to crash.
A Sig Alert was issued later as at least one lane was closed while the CHP investigated, but all lanes were reopened by 9:30 a.m.
