OAKLAND — A 26-year-old motorcyclist died Thursday evening after a collision with a car in North Oakland, authorities said Friday.
The coroner’s office identified him Friday as Osmond Akbar of Oakland.
Police said the collision happened about 5:33 p.m. Thursday in the 6000 block of Claremont Avenue at Hillegass Avenue.
Authorities said Akbar’s 2008 Yamaha R6 motorcycle collided with a 2005 Honda Civic driven by a 62-year-old Berkeley woman. Akbar died later at a hospital.
No other details about the collision were released, but police said the Honda driver was uninjured and remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said it is not yet known if drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
