OAKLAND — No one was injured Tuesday afternoon when an Amtrak train hit a pickup truck that was stalled on railroad tracks in East Oakland, authorities said.

The collision happened about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of East 12th Street and 29th Avenue in the Fruitvale area.

Authorities said the truck had stalled on the tracks before it was struck by the train, which was traveling at a reduced speed because it was out of service on its way to a maintenance facility in West Oakland.

Neither the truck driver nor any train crew members were injured, authorities said

The intersection was closed and train service delayed while police investigated.

It was the second time in less than a month that occupants of a vehicle that was struck by an Amtrak train while on railroad tracks escaped injury.

On Feb. 13, an Amtrak train hit a car that had become stuck on tracks at a crossing at 67th and Shellmound streets in Emeryville. The driver and passenger in the car had gotten out of the vehicle moments before it was hit.
