OAKLAND — A 25-year-old Stockton man was shot early Saturday as he sat in his parked car in East Oakland, authorities said.

He is expected to recover.

The shooting was reported about 12:02 a.m. Saturday in the 2200 block of East 15th Street.

Authorities said the man had come to Oakland to meet someone and had stopped to use his phone.

As he sat in his car a man approached the vehicle from outside and shot him, police said. He was able to drive a few blocks before he flagged down some police officers and was taken to a hospital.

The gunman fled in a car. Police don’t have a motive for the shooting and have not made any arrests.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooter. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
