PINOLE — A home burglary Thursday in Pinole led to a vehicle chase to Martinez and the arrest of three men, police said Friday. A fourth suspect is being sought.
Authorities said that just before 2 p.m. Thursday an alert neighbor called police after seeing two men enter the backyard of a home in the 3900 block of Ponderosa Trail. While police were responding to the scene and setting up a perimeter, the resident arrived home and the suspects fled the residence to a silver Lexus parked nearby.
The Lexus was last seen getting onto the eastbound lanes of Highway 4 from Interstate 80.
Pinole police alerted other police agencies about the burglary and the Lexus. A Hercules police officer who happened to be in Martinez saw the Lexus driving eastbound on Highway 4 approaching Alhambra Avenue. The Lexus got off the freeway at Alhambra and crashed.
Four men ran from the Lexus. A perimeter was set up with the assistance of Hercules, Martinez and Pleasant Hill police as well as the California Highway Patrol. Three of the suspects were soon located and arrested. The fourth escaped.
Property taken in the burglary was located inside the Lexus but police did not say what it was.
Arrested on suspicion of residential burglary were Jhacorieo Rooney, 25, of Oakland, Justin Dorsey, 30, of San Francisco, and John Woods, 24, of Redwood City. Woods and Rooney were also booked for violating probation. They were being held at the Martinez Detention Facility.
