OAKLAND — A man trying to rob another man in East Oakland on Sunday morning was fatally shot by a family member of the intended victim, police said Monday.

A second suspect in the robbery was arrested and a gun was recovered, police said.

Police have not yet released the names of either man.

Police said the shooting happened about 8:25 a.m. Sunday in the 4200 block of  Porter Street.

Police said a man was being robbed at gunpoint outside his home by two men. A family member saw what was happening and shot one of the suspects, police said. He died later at a hospital.
