OAKLAND — A man trying to rob another man in East Oakland on Sunday morning was fatally shot by a family member of the intended victim, police said Monday.
A second suspect in the robbery was arrested and a gun was recovered, police said.
Police have not yet released the names of either man.
Police said the shooting happened about 8:25 a.m. Sunday in the 4200 block of Porter Street.
Police said a man was being robbed at gunpoint outside his home by two men. A family member saw what was happening and shot one of the suspects, police said. He died later at a hospital.
Police arrested the second suspect in the area. A gun believed used in the robbery was recovered in the area.
The man being robbed was not injured. The family member, who police did not identify but said had a legally registered gun, was questioned and released.
