OAKLAND — A woman who told police she was pushed off a second-floor balcony Friday night at a hotel near the Oakland International Airport was hospitalized with serious injuries and a suspect is being sought, authorities said Saturday.

The 38-year-old Oakland woman suffered fractures and cuts and bruises, authorities said, but her condition was not available Saturday.

Police said the suspected assault happened just before 7 p.m. Friday at the Econo Lodge Inn and Suites, 10 Hegenberger Road.

The woman was able to tell police a man had pushed her off a balcony outside her second-floor room, causing her to fall about 15 feet to the pavement below, authorities said.

The man, who may have known the woman, fled before police arrived, authorities said.

Police were trying to determine a motive for what happened.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.  Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
