RICHMOND — A man walking on Interstate 580 died Tuesday morning after he was hit by a pickup truck, the California Highway Patrol said.
The man’s name was not immediately released pending confirmation of his identity and notification of next of kin.
The man was hit by a Chevrolet Silverado truck about 3:26 a.m. Tuesday in the westbound lanes of I-580 near Canal Boulevard, the CHP said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators.
Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, according to the CHP.
