Peninsula man fatally shot near Oakland’s Uptown area

OAKLAND — A 27-year-old Daly City man was fatally shot Wednesday evening near the Uptown district, authorities said.

His name has not yet been released.

The man was shot around 6:30 p.m. in the 400 block of 26th Street, a mixture of homes and businesses, which runs between Broadway and Telegraph Avenue.

The man was shot after getting into a dispute, authorities said. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Police have not yet said why the man was in Oakland or what the dispute was about. No suspect information has been released.

The killing is the 51st homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time, police had investigated 53 homicides in the city.
