OAKLAND — A 20-year-old man was shot multiple times late Sunday night in West Oakland, police said Monday.
He is expected to recover from his wounds.
The shooting happened about 11:30 p.m. Sunday in the area of Eighth and Chase streets.
Police said the man was walking when he was shot by someone who had gotten out of a vehicle and then took off in the vehicle before police responded. The wounded man got a ride to a hospital from another person.
Police do not have a motive yet for the shooting, but are looking into the possibility it is connected to some other shootings in the area, including one that happened about 2 a.m. Sunday in the 1600 block of 16th Street where a 23-year-old man was wounded as he was walking.
No arrests have been made in the cases.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of suspects in each of the shootings. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
