OAKLAND — Two men were shot Wednesday afternoon as they sat in a vehicle in East Oakland, leaving one in critical condition, authorities said.

The shooting happened about 4:24 p.m.  Wednesday in the 2400 block of 12th Avenue, a primarily residential area.

The two men, one 26 and the other 20, were sitting in a parked vehicle when someone began shooting at them from outside, authorities said.

The older man was wounded at least twice and the other man once, authorities said.

They were able to drive on their own to a hospital.  The 26-year-old man was in critical condition. The other man was treated and released.

Investigators believe the men were the intended targets of the shooter but a motive has not been determined. The shooter is being sought.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooter. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
