OAKLAND — A gunman opened fire on a group of people playing dice in West Oakland on Thursday night, leaving a 27-year-old man with multiple wounds, authorities said Friday.

Some buildings were also hit by bullets but no one else was injured, police said.

The shooting happened about 9:09 p.m. in the 1400 block of Seventh Street across from the West Oakland BART station.

Authorities said several people were playing a dice game outside when a gunman approached and began shooting at them.

Some of the players ran off and others took shelter in a nearby store, authorities said.

The gunman ran away and may have gotten into a car parked nearby, authorities said.

The 27-year-old man was taken to a hospital and listed in stable condition.

Police are trying to determine a motive for the shooting and whether the wounded man was the intended target.  No arrests have been made.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $7,500 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooter.  Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
