Two men wounded in Oakland shootings

OAKLAND — Two men were wounded in shootings Monday night that happened three hours apart in different areas of Oakland, authorities said Tuesday.

Both men are expected to survive and the shootings are not connected, authorities said.

The latest shooting happened at 11:14 p.m. Monday in the 9500 block of Birch Street in East Oakland.

A 21-year-old man told police he was walking when he heard gunfire and saw he had been wounded. He was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition.

Police do not know if the man was the intended target and have no motive for the shooting. No arrests have been made.

About 8:25 p.m. Monday, a 35-year-old man was shot as he sat in his car in the 1000 block of Aileen Street in North Oakland, authorities said. Another person drove him to a hospital and he was in stable condition.

Police do not have a motive yet for the shooting and have not made any arrests.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money in each shooting for information leading to the arrest of the suspects. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
