OAKLAND — A 19-year-old man was wounded in a North Oakland shooting Thursday night where some 60 shell casings were recovered at the scene, authorities said.
The man was in stable condition at a hospital with a wound to his upper torso.
Authorities said he and the people who brought him to a hospital were uncooperative with officers about what led to him being shot.
Based on a ShotSpotter alert, police determined the shooting happened at about 10:18 p.m. Thursday in the 1000 block of 62nd Street.
At the scene police recovered dozens of shell casings which came from different firearms and also found that five parked vehicles had been hit by gunfire but no structures. No other injuries were reported.
Authorities said it appears there was an apparent shoot-out at the scene and police are trying to determine if the man wounded was on the street or in a vehicle when he was shot and what his involvement was.
A motive for the shooting has not been determined yet and no arrests have been made.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of any suspects in the shooting. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
