OAKLAND — A 53-year-old man was shot Friday night in East Oakland, authorities said.
He was in stable condition at a hospital with a gunshot wound to his torso, authorities said.
The shooting happened about 9:43 p.m. Friday in the 6100 block of Brann Street.
Police said the man was outside when he was shot. He got a ride to a hospital from another person.
Police said more than a dozen shell casings were found on the street indicating there was some kind of a shootout.
It has not been determined yet if the wounded man was part of the shootout or was hit by a stray bullet, authorities said..
Some parked vehicles were also hit by the gunfire but no other injuries were reported.
Police are trying to determine a motive for the shooting and have not announced any arrests.
