Man robs Oakland bank after threatening to shoot teller

OAKLAND — A man robbed a Montclair district bank Friday morning after threatening to shoot a teller, authorities said.

No one was hurt however in the robbery at the Bank of the West, 2023 Mountain Blvd.

Police said a man entered the bank about 9:18 a.m., gave a teller a note demanding money and threatened to shoot the teller if they did not comply. No gun was actually seen.

The robber then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The robber was described to police as black, about 35, at least  5 feet 7 and 200 pounds with facial hair and a dark complexion.  He wore a New York Yankees baseball cap, a dark sweater and blue jeans.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $2,500 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the robber.  Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3326 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
