HERCULES — A 54-year-old Richmond man’s day Wednesday went from bad to worse, authorities said.

The man was stopped by Hercules police at about 1:25 a.m. Wednesday because the blue 2000 Toyota Camry he was driving on San Pablo Avenue at Sycamore Avenue had expired registration, police said.

A records check revealed he was wanted on a no-bail arrest warrant issued Dec. 30 for violating his parole for a domestic violence conviction, which led to him being arrested and taken by police to the Martinez Detention Facility for booking, authorities said.

While at the jail, deputies did a “pre-entry” search of him and found two small plastic bags of suspected methamphetamine concealed in his shoes, authorities said.

And a deputy also found credit and debit cards in the names of other people inside the man’s wallet, authorities said.

The suspected  narcotics and debit and credit cards were collected as evidence and the man was additionally booked on possession of a controlled substance, and bringing  a controlled substance into a jail.

An investigation into how he came into possession of the debit and credit cards is also underway.

Check back for updates.
