OAKLAND — A 42-year-old man was shot Friday night as he drove through a parking lot in East Oakland, authorities said.
Some buildings and parked vehicles were also struck by the gunfire but no other injuries were reported, authorities said.
The shooting was reported at about 8:05 p.m. Friday in the 4200 block of International Boulevard near High Street.
The man told police he had just purchased some food at a fast-food restaurant and was driving through a parking lot when at least one person standing outside began shooting at him.
A ShotSpotter activation indicated dozens of shots were fired, authorities said.
The man was wounded at least once and was taken to a hospital. He was in stable condition. The suspect fled before police arrived on scene.
A motive has not yet been determined but police have not ruled out the possibility the shooting was gang-related, authorities said.
