OAKLAND — At least two people were reported injured and a Sig Alert was issued Friday morning after a tractor-trailer and two vehicles were involved in a collision on Highway 24, authorities said.

Initial reports were that the big-rig jack knifed and was blocking at least three westbound lanes of the highway east of Broadway, the California Highway Patrol said..

The multi-vehicle collision was reported at 8:29 a.m. and the Sig Alert was issued 10 minutes later. It was not immediately known what caused the collision.

There were initial reports that someone was trapped in one of the vehicles but the fire department said no one had to be extricated from any vehicles.

At least two ambulances were called to the scene, officials said.

Fuel from some of the vehicles spilled onto the roadway.

Traffic backed up for some distance while the CHP investigated.

Check back for updates.
