OAKLAND — An 18-year-old man was shot in the upper torso and arm Saturday morning in a drive-by shooting in North Oakland, authorities said.

Officers were called to the 6000 block of Occidental Street, near the intersection of Stanford Avenue and Market Street, just after 11:15 a.m. for a report of shots fired. Police said the victim was sitting in a parked car when another vehicle drove by and someone inside it fired multiple rounds at him.

Other parked cars nearby were hit by the gunfire, but no other injuries were reported. Someone drove the victim to a local hospital, but he was later transferred to a different hospital, where he was in stable condition Saturday afternoon.

Police have not yet identified a motive or made any arrests. Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to an arrest; anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
