OAKLAND — A 42-year-old man was fatally shot Friday night at a North Oakland homeless camp, authorities said.
The man was identified as Rivelino Tepaz, who authorities said lived at the camp.
The shooting happened about 10:52 p.m. Friday at the camp in the 3400 block of Elm Street, just below Interstate 580 north of 34th Street.
The man was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Police do not have a motive yet for the killing and have not made any arrests.
The killing is the 71st homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time police had investigated 55 homicides in the city.
