SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO — A Pittsburg man was one of three suspects arrested in the Tuesday night armed robbery of a market, police said Thursday.

Jorge Barajas, 21, was being held at the San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of robbery and conspiracy. Also arrested for the same offenses were Jorge Lara, 21, and Jeffry Lopez, 25, both of Bakersfield, police said.

Police said in a news release that two men later identified as Barajas and Lara entered a market in the 900 block of Linden Avenue about  8:05 p.m. Tuesday. One was armed with a gun and they demanded money from the store clerk. The name of the market was not released.

Both suspects then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash on foot  in the 300 block of Armor Avenue toward Olive Avenue.

Police said the gun and cash taken were later recovered in the backyard of a nearby residence. The three suspects were later located in the immediate area where the gun and money had been discarded, police said.

Barajas and Lara were wearing clothing matching the description provided by the market clerk and another witness and one of them identified both men as the robbers, police said. All three men were arrested.
