OAKLAND — Two men were shot Friday night in West Oakland within a few blocks and about three hours apart, authorities said Saturday.
Police are trying to determine if the shootings are related or were coincidental.
About 11:28 p.m. Friday a 32-year-old man was shot multiple times while he was outside in the 2600 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way by another man who had just gotten out of a vehicle, authorities said.
The wounded man was able to run to a nearby residence where police and paramedics were called. The suspect fled in the vehicle. A detailed description of the suspect was not released.
The wounded man was taken to a hospital where he was listed in critical but stable condition.
Police don’t have a motive yet for the shooting and have not made any arrests.
Earlier Friday, at about 8:09 p.m., a 32-year-old man was shot in the 2800 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way as he sat in a parked vehicle, authorities said.
The man told police he heard what turned out to be gunfire and drove away from the area before he realized he had been shot. He drove himself to a hospital and was in stable condition.
Whether the man was shot by someone in a vehicle or on the street has not been determined nor has a motive for the shooting. No arrests have been made.
