Man says he was shot while driving in Oakland

OAKLAND — A 30-year-old man who told police he was shot early Wednesday while he drove in East Oakland was in stable condition, authorities said.

The man told police he was driving on 66th Avenue about 1:50 a.m. Wednesday and was approaching MacArthur Boulevard when he heard a gunshot and saw he had been wounded.

He said he continued driving until he found a friend who then drove him to a hospital. The friend did not remain at the hospital.

The wounded man told police he did not see who shot him.

Police are trying to locate exactly where the shooting happened and determine a motive. No arrests have been made.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooter. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
