BERKELEY — A shooting outside an apartment complex early Thursday resulted in police removing two adult men and a 9-month-old baby from a unit where guns, drugs and ammunition were later found inside, authorities said.
No injuries have been reported.
The shooting was reported about 12:43 a.m. Thursday outside an apartment complex in the 1300 block of Berkeley Way.
Officer Byron White said in an e-mail that when officers attempted to contact the people inside an apartment, they refused to come outside and locked themselves inside the apartment.
Members of the department’s Special Response Team responded to the scene to assist in the case.
White said officers were eventually able to negotiate with the people inside the apartment and persuade them to come outside. Two men in their 20s and the baby came outside and the men were detained. One of the men is the father of the child and the child’s mother came to the scene later to take custody, authorities said.
Police have not yet said what kind of guns, drugs and ammunition were found in the apartment or what the involvement the two men may have had in the shooting.
The case remains under investigation.
