Sacramento resident identified as Hayward fatal shooting victim

HAYWARD — A man fatally shot here March 6 has been identified as a 26-year-old Sacramento resident, authorities said Wednesday.

Police however are not releasing the man’s name at this time because of the ongoing investigation.

The man sustained fatal gunshot wounds and another man with him was wounded in a shooting that happened about 11:57 p.m. March 6 in the area of Mission Boulevard and Blanche Street.

The two were not immediately located at that scene, but were found about a half-hour later in East Oakland near the Oakland Zoo, authorities said.

The 26-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and the other man taken to a hospital.  It was not known if he remains hospitalized.

Police have not what the men’s relationship was or if they have determined a motive for the shooting.  No arrests have been made.

The killing is Hayward’s fourth homicide of the year.
