OAKLAND — A 65-year-old woman was killed Tuesday morning by a hit-and-run driver in East Oakland, authorities said.
Her name has not been released.
Police said the woman had just gotten out of a parked vehicle about 6:54 a.m. Tuesday and was in the westbound lanes of Bancroft Avenue near 62nd Avenue when she was struck by a westbound vehicle that kept going. She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Police described the vehicle that hit the woman as a late 1990s Toyota Camry, white or beige in color with possible front end damage. A detailed description of the driver was not released.
Bancroft Avenue was shut down for several blocks while police investigated.
