Man shot during Oakland attempted robbery

OAKLAND — A 27-year-old man was shot during an apparent attempted robbery Thursday night not far from the Oakland Coliseum, authorities said.

The man was in stable condition Friday.

The shooting happened about 9:20 p.m. Thursday in the 800 block of 75th Avenue near Snell Street.

The man told police he was walking when he was approached by a man who pointed a gun at him and demanded his property. The man said when he tried to run away he was shot.

He was able to make it on his own to the Coliseum BART Station where police and medical aid were called before he was taken to a hospital.

The suspect, who did not get anything from the victim, is being sought.  A detailed description of him was not released.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.  Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3326 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
