OAKLAND — A 47-year-old man was fatally shot in West Oakland Tuesday night, police said Wednesday.
He was identified by police as Jonathin Jones of Oakland.
Jones was found by officers about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of Willow Street in the Campbell Village area suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
Officers started first aid until paramedics arrived on the scene. Jones was taken to a hospital where he died at 10:22 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said even though Jones had another address in Oakland, he was known to frequent the area where he was shot.
Sgt. Omar Daza-Quiroz said Jones was approached on the street by someone who shot him. He said police don’t have a motive yet and have not made any arrests.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the killer. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3821 or 510-238-7950 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
