OAKLAND — A 25-year-old Los Banos man was shot to death Thursday night at the Fruitvale Station Shopping Center and a suspect was later arrested, authorities said Friday.

The man’s name has not been released. Police have not said why they think he was in Oakland.

The shooting happened about 7:10 p.m. Thursday in the parking lot of the shopping center, located in the 3000 block of East Ninth Street in the heart of the city’s Fruitvale district.

Police believe the victim and at least one other man got into a dispute that ended in the fatal shooting. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are not sure if the two men knew each other and have not yet said what the dispute was about or if others were involved.

The suspect was arrested later at another location. His name has not been released but police said he was an Oakland resident.

He was booked on suspicion of murder.
