OAKLAND — A motorcyclist suffered major injuries Friday after a collision with a vehicle on Interstate 580, forcing the closure of two lanes and the issuing of a Sig Alert, the California Highway Patrol said.
The Sig Alert, which had a significant impact on morning commute traffic, was called off at 9:20 a.m.
The motorcyclist was injured at 8:19 a.m. after colliding with a vehicle in the eastbound lanes of I-580 east of Broadway Auto Row. The first and second lanes near the center divider were closed as a result, and a Sig Alert was issued at 8:25 a.m., the CHP said.
Initial reports were that the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
The collision remains under investigation.
