OAKLAND — A man killed early Sunday in East Oakland by a hit-and-run driver was identified by the coroner’s office Tuesday as James Brown, 59.
The driver of the vehicle is still being sought.
Brown, of Oakland, was killed about 3:08 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Cole Street.
He was in a crosswalk when he was hit by a vehicle going eastbound on Foothill that failed to stop after hitting him. Brown was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not released a description of the vehicle.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the driver. Anyone with information may call police at 510-777-8570 or Crime Stoppers at 777-8572.
