OAKLAND — A shooting outside a Laurel District bar in East Oakland early Saturday left one man dead and four other people wounded, culminating a six-hour period of violence that saw another man killed and three other people wounded in separate incidents, authorities said.
A suspect was arrested in the Laurel District shooting that killed a 46-year-old man and left a 47-year-old woman and two other men, 49 and 35, wounded, as well as another man, whose age was not released. Authorities did not release any of the victims’ names.
That shooting happened about 12:50 a.m. in the area of 38th Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard, outside the bar.
Police said several people were outside when a dispute between two men ended with one of them pulling a gun and firing shots.
The 46-year-old man, who apparently was not part of the original dispute, died at the scene. Three other victims including the 35-year-old man who was involved in the dispute, were taken to hospitals where they were in stable condition, authorities said.
The fourth man did not require hospitalization.
The suspect fled after the shooting but was arrested a few blocks away by responding officers.
Investigators were still interviewing witnesses and the suspect Saturday morning and no other details were immediately available.
The other fatal shooting happened about 10:26 p.m. Friday in the 2200 block of 92nd Avenue.
A 28-year-old man was found dead at the scene. His name has not been released, and police were trying to determine if he lived in the area. No motive has been determined and no arrests made.
About 11:10 p.m. Friday a 32-year-old man was shot in the 800 block of Poplar Way in West Oakland.
Police believe the man, who was outside, was struck by an errant bullet fired two blocks away by another person. No one else was reported injured, and police have not made any arrests.
About 10:30 p.m. Friday a 33-year-old man was shot in the 1400 block of Eighth Street also in West Oakland.
The man was outside a liquor store when he heard gunfire and saw he had been shot, police said. He got his own transportation to a hospital and was in stable condition. No motive has been determined for the shooting and no arrests have been made.
About 7:33 p.m. Friday another man was shot in the 2900 block of Brookdale Avenue in East Oakland. He also found his own way to a hospital and his condition was listed as stable. A car was also hit by the gunfire in the incident, but police have not said if the man was in the car when he was shot. No motive has been determined and no arrests have been made.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money in the 92nd Avenue homicide and up to $5,000 in the other shootings for information leading to the arrest of the suspects.
