OAKLAND — A woman and a man were shot a half-hour apart Friday night in different areas of the city, police said.
Both were in stable condition Saturday.
The 26-year-old woman was shot about 10:32 p.m. Friday in the 2200 block of Chestnut Street in West Oakland.
The woman told police she was standing outside with some friends when she heard multiple gunshots, felt a sharp pain and realized she had been wounded. She was the only one of the group injured, and she was taken to a hospital.
A parked, unoccupied vehicle was also hit by the gunfire.
Police have not determined what the motive for the shooting was or if the shooter was in a vehicle or on the street. No arrests have been made.
About 10 p.m. Friday police were called to a gas station in the 2100 block of East 12th Street in East Oakland where they found a 24-year-old man who had been shot.
Authorities said the man was mostly uncooperative but did tell officers he was shot a few blocks away in the 1900 block of East 12th Street by another man. He then walked to the gas station where police were called. The man was taken to a hospital.
Police also don’t have a motive in the man’s shooting and have not made any arrests.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money in each shooting for information leading to the arrest of the suspects. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
