DISCOVERY BAY — Divers on Wednesday night found the body of a missing 53-year-old woman in water behind her home, authorities said Thursday.
An autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of death for Ching “Ping” Chen, who vanished about 7 p.m. Tuesday after going outside her home in the 5500 block of Beaver Lane to water some plants.
Authorities said the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Dive Team located her body about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday submerged in the water behind her home.
Besides the cause of death, authorities are also investigating how she got into the water and anything else that led to her death.
Before finding Chen, deputies had used a specially trained dog and a drone while searching for her.
