Man shot in East Oakland

OAKLAND — A man was shot Tuesday afternoon in East Oakland, authorities said.

The man was apparently wounded in the leg and was transported to a hospital where his condition was not immediately available. His name and age were not released.

The shooting was reported about 2:50 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of 17th Avenue and International Boulevard.

The suspected shooter fled the scene on foot. It was not immediately known if the victim and suspect knew each other or what prompted the shooting.

No arrests have been reported.

Streets in the area were closed while police investigated.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooter.  Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
